Maturation expert Gordon & MacPhail presents the new Connoisseurs Choice series

It's about a month ago that Gordon & MacPhail launched the new look and strategy of their bottling series. The portfolio now contains five different ranges: Discovery, Distillery Labels, Private Collection, Generations and Connoisseurs Choice, the heart of the portfolio. In order to get more acquainted with the new bottlings they have sent us some very nice samples to review.

The G&M Connoisseurs Choice range has built up quite a history. It was George Urquhart who's original vision and philosophy started the CC era in 1968. The perfect marriage of liquid and cask, delivering exquisite whiskies in small batches, all non-chill-filtered and bottled at natural colour. Now, 50 years later(!!!), it's time for a new look and a slight change in the bottlings.

Throughout the years it was normal to bottle the CC's at typical ABV's. The past years this has been 46%. The new range doesn't have the typical ABV anymore but it varies from 40% to caskstrength all in order to bring out the best in that particular whisky.

As I said, we've received some very nice samples of the new range: Two different bottlings of Caol Ila, a Glen Spey, a Glen Elgin and a Speyburn will soon be tasted by Peter and myself and of course our notes will be published on this website!

We would like to thank Juliette Buchan (International Sales Manager G&M / Benromach) and the G&M marketing team for this very nice opportunity. We're looking forward to doing this kind of homework.
